Will Obedience Training Help Your Dog?

They are more than just pets - our dogs become a part of our families.
For some phoenix valley families however, owning a dog isn't always fun. It is frustrating when your dog runs and darts out through an open door. Dogs that refuse to come when called can be struck by cars and seriously injured.

It’s embarrassing when your dog jumps up on visitors to your home. And it’s annoying when a dog begs for food at the table, or grabs your shoes when you need them and runs away. Worse yet is having to clean up your dogs feces and urine inside the house. How about when your dog growls to guard his food or toys? This isn't just annoying, it can be dangerous!

Fortunately, Canine Dimensions certified Phoenix Valley Dog Training experts train dogs throughout the entire Phoenix, AZ Valley Region and can quickly and effectively fix all of the above dog behavior problems – and more!

Owning a trained dog is rewarding and relaxing. Dog Obedience Training teaches the dog to perform the 5 most important obedience commands: sit, come, down, drop it, and stay. Basically, these 5 commands give you the ability to control your dog.  Obedience training teaches your dog to view you as a leader.

Dog Obedience Training can also help you and your dog build a strong bond of trust and friendship. Since dogs are pack oriented, they enjoy and will respond to benevolent leadership. Training your dog to follow your commands gives them a sense of security and helps build confidence.

Canine Dimensions Dog Trainers train your dog in your home – and they serve the entire Phoenix Valley. Each dog training program is custom designed to match the age, temperament and drive of your dog.

Phoenix Valley Dog Training is the best thing you can do for your dog, and your family!

We Can Help Aggressive Dogs

Canine Dimensions Phoenix Valley Dog Trainers are often called upon to help animal shelters evaluate dogs before they can be adopted. Dogs like the ones in this video clip  aggressively guard their food, bones or other objects. They will need training and rehabilitation before they can be safely adopted.

When dogs growl or bite to protect food, toys or bones, it’s called “resource guarding.” Resource guarding is a serious problem that tends to get worse the longer the dog does it. It never resolves on its own. Resource guarding is a very common form of aggression in dogs, but Canine Dimensions certified Phoenix Valley Dog Trainers use modern dog training and counter-conditioning techniques that can help rehabilitate dogs like these.

Because we train your dog at home, we can design  the right program to help solve problems like resource guarding and other dog aggression, dog obedience training and dog behavior problems.

Children and Dog - Keep Them Safe, Togeather

Family dogs must be safe around children. Aggressive behavior like guarding food or guarding bones will not go away on its own. As pet owners, we must take the time to teach our kids how to behave properly around puppies and adult dogs. And it is important to teach young puppies that when kids approach them, this is a positive thing, not a threat to their food, toys or bones. .

Sometimes dog owners will reach into the puppy’s food bowl and disturb the puppy while she’s easting. This is the wrong way to teach the puppy to share. Instead it teaches her to regard the approach of a person as a bad thing. The human becomes an annoyance if they interrupt the puppy’s meals.

What we recommend instead, is that you approach the puppy at meal time and add more food to the bowl.  Also, try adding some high value treats to your puppy’s food bowl while she’s eating. This teaches the puppy to view the approach of a person as a  good thing! More tips on preventing aggression are part of our Puppy GoodStart in-home dog training program.

If your dog or puppy has already started behaving aggressively, it’s too late for the method described above. Contact Us and we can design a different approach tailored for the situation you are experiencing with your dog. More dog training protocols are found in our aggression intervention & behavior modification in-home Dog Training Programs, offered throughout the entire Phoenix Valley  region.

Fearful and Aggressive Dog at Animal Shelter is Rehabilitated in Only 4 Weeks

“A 2 year old Chow named Maximilian arrived here at our shelter in January. We soon became aware that Maximilian had some serious behavior problems. He was fearful and aggressive, and this made it very difficult for our staff to handle him. He was quite aggressive during his temperament test. We were afraid that he might never become a safe do to adopt out.

I asked Canine Dimensions trainers to work with him. At the time, I didn’t think that there was much hope for Maximilian, but I wanted to give him every chance possible.

I was amazed that after only a 5 days of training there was a noticeable improvement in the dog. Amazingly, after about two weeks of training his fear was harldy noticeable and he was no longer showing any sign of aggression.

I am pleased to report that after about 4 weeks of rehabilitation by Canine Dimensions dog trainers, he was finally adopted by a great family.

I honestly cannot remember the last time I witnessed such a remarkable change in a dog,  in such a short period of time.

This is not the first time that I have witnessed the trainers from Canine Dimensions literally work wonders with some difficult dogs here at The Animal Orphanage. There is no better choice for dog training than Canine Dimensions, especially for dogs with
